Our mission

The Norwegian Nuclear Association (Norsk Nukleær Forening) is a national, non-profit association established to support the development of nuclear technologies, competence, and capacity in Norway. It brings together individuals and organizations from academia, the public sector, and industry who are committed to advancing nuclear energy and related applications in medicine, materials science, environmental monitoring, emergency preparedness, and other sectors.

The Association serves as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, policy input, and engagement with national and international stakeholders.

What We Do

The Norwegian Nuclear Association works to strengthen Norway’s role and visibility in the global nuclear community while supporting national competence and collaboration. Our key activities include:

  • Representing Norwegian interests in the international nuclear arena
  • Strengthening ties between Norwegian actors and international institutions, networks, and forums
  • Promoting collaboration and joint projects among members
  • Supporting competence and capacity development across sectors
  • Raising awareness of international developments and opportunities
  • Acting as a consultative body for public and private stakeholders
  • Publishing studies and coordinated statements on nuclear-related topics

Founding

The Association was formally established on 13 February 2024 at Halden City Hall. It is registered as a non-profit association (forening) in Norway with organizational number 935 508 908. The founding board consists of István Szőke, Fredrik Holm, and Dag Øistein Eriksen. A full board will be elected at the first General Assembly once a sufficient number of members have registered.
