The Norwegian Nuclear Association is currently led by a temporary board composed of its three founders.

A full board will be elected following the first General Assembly, which will be held once a sufficient number of members have registered. The founding team brings broad experience across nuclear science, policy, and technology.

István Szőke is a specialist in nuclear energy, radiation protection, and AI-, data-, and robotics-driven innovation. He serves as Research Manager at the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), Deputy Director of the Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre, and Acting Director of the Norwegian Nuclear Association, while also holding a position as Associate Professor at NMBU.

With a background in radiation and environmental protection, he focuses on advanced digital techniques for nuclear safety, decommissioning, and environmental monitoring. As the founder of DigiDECOM, he has been instrumental in fostering international collaboration in the nuclear sector. He also established the Norwegian Nuclear Association to strengthen national expertise and policy development. Additionally, he played a key role in securing IFE’s designation as an IAEA International Collaborating Centre, reinforcing Norway’s position in global nuclear research and innovation.

Fredrik Holm (Conservative Party) serves as the Mayor of Halden, bringing extensive leadership experience in public administration and municipal governance. He also leads Norske Kjernekraftkommuner (“Norwegian Nuclear-Municipalities”), an interim national association representing over 50 municipalities exploring nuclear energy options.

Under Holm’s direction, Halden has taken a pioneering municipal role in the national nuclear dialogue – hosting one of two decommissioned nuclear research reactors, engaging in IFE’s international collaborations, and initiating investigations into small modular reactors. A vocal advocate for nuclear power, he emphasizes its potential for regional economic development, local job creation, and clean energy transition .

As a co-founder of the Norwegian Nuclear Association, Holm contributes invaluable insights into governance, energy policy, and the public role of municipalities in shaping Norway’s nuclear future.

Dag Øistein Eriksen is CEO of Primus.inter.pares AS and a guest scientist at the University of Oslo. He holds a degree in Nuclear Chemistry from the University of Oslo (1976) and began his career as a researcher at the same institution. He was a research associate at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh from 1981 to 1982. From 1984 to 1992, he worked at Megon AS in separation science, followed by a senior scientist role at IFE, specialising in tracer technology. Between 1999 and 2007, he led a section at IFE before founding Primus.inter.pares AS. Since 2018, he has also managed the Norwegian Network for Hydrometallurgy.
